FULL-LENGTH COURSE
Personal Finance Exploration
Personal Finance Exploration helps middle school students build the knowledge and confidence to make smart money decisions early. Across 22 engaging modules, students explore real-world topics like budgeting, saving, banking, credit, insurance, and investing.
Featured Engagement Activities
Each Nucleus course features engagement-optimized activities, including real-world simulations, real technology tools, and collaborative group activities in a gamified classroom setting. Highlights of some of our engaging activities for the Personal Finance Exploration course include:

SMART Goals
Students evaluate financial goals and decide whether each one is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. They sort strong goals from weak ones, rewrite vague goals into SMART format, and build their own savings goal step by step. By the end, every student has a concrete, personally meaningful financial goal they can actually start working toward.

The Best Way to Pay
Students compare cash, debit cards, digital wallets, and P2P apps side by side on convenience, security, and tracking. Suspicious messages start landing in their inbox, including a phishing text, a skimming alert, a P2P scam, and a lost card notice. Students spot the red flags, explain the danger, and close out by grading a payment method on security with a tip for staying safe.
Show Me The Money
Students break down the interest formula piece by piece, then put the Rule of 72 to work estimating how fast different teens can double their savings. The activity builds to a growth race: two characters start with the same $1,000 at 5%, one earning simple interest and the other earning compound. Checkpoints at Years 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 show the compound saver pulling further ahead every round, showing why starting early matters.
